Tournament

Since 2009, the Melbourne Rovers Soccer Club, the Sydney Rangers Football Club and The Flying Bats Women’s Football Club have participated in the annual Pride Football Australia (PFA) Tournament.

 

As Australia’s first gay and lesbian football tournament, the annual PFA Tournament has grown to become the marquee interstate football competition for the LGBTQIA+ community.

 

At the PFA Tournament, participating clubs compete in the inaugural competitions of Pride Football Australia - the Julie Murray Cup and the Justin Fashanu Cup.

Julie Murray Cup

The Julie Murray Cup is the annual interstate women’s football game between the Melbourne Rovers Soccer Club and The Flying Bats Women’s Football Club.


The Julie Murray Cup remembers and celebrates the achievements of Julie Murray in the world of football and as an advocate on LGBTQIA+ issues in the Australian community.

Justin Fashanu Cup

The Justin Fashanu Cup is the annual interstate men’s football game between the Melbourne Rovers Soccer Club and the Sydney Rangers Football Club.


The Justin Fashanu Cup remembers and celebrates the life of the first gay man to publicly come out in professional football in 1990.

Josh Cavallo Shield

The Josh Cavallo Shield is the annual interstate men's football game between the Brisbane Inferno FC and The PFA Select.


Joshua John Cavallo is an Australian professional soccer player who plays as a left back and central midfielder for A-League Men club Adelaide United and is an advocate on LGBTQIA+ issues in the Australian football community.
